Welcome to Haircuts&Uppercuts! My name is Luke and I am the founder of the brand. Haircuts&Uppercuts started during lockdown, when I started to struggle with my mental health. Something I am sure that many of you can relate to. So with the help of my friends Scott and Rob, I started a podcast to keep myself busy. Mainly to discuss my two passions in life – boxing and barbering. With that Haircuts&Uppercuts had been born. During this period I realised I had never dealt with the fact that ,in my younger years I had on more than one occasion tried to take my own life. I was struggling with the realisation of years of buried emotions, that were surfacing their ugly heads again. On top of that I felt guilty for being alive, after my cousin sadly and unexpectedly took his own life just before lockdown in 2019. This gave me the inspiration to help myself and others. As a Barber and a huge boxing fan, the podcast and product range was the perfect one-two combination. That brings us to today. A percentage of profits from the sale of Haircuts&Uppercuts product range will be donated to Mind and also allow me to pay for coaches, other barbers and teachers to go on a mental health first aid course. This will enable coaches to aid someone needing mental support, barbers to support their clients through difficult times and just having one teacher in a school, qualified as mental health first aider can make a huge difference.
